About this property

Welcome to Hacienda Santo Cristo

Set within a grand 18th-century stone country estate, Hacienda Santo Cristo offers a blend of old-world charm and rustic-chic style. The property combines historic hacienda rooms with a newer building featuring expansive, modern accommodations, some with large balconies overlooking manicured gardens and a labyrinth. Guests can enjoy a variety of facilities including a spa, outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, and kid- and pet-friendly amenities, alongside services such as free Wi-Fi, free parking, and airport shuttle.

The onsite dining options include the Comedor La Troje restaurant, praised for its modern Mexican cuisine and attentive service. Another restaurant serves pan-continental dishes, providing diverse culinary choices. Reviewers highlight friendly and professional staff, though note occasional language barriers and slower breakfast service. The property’s peaceful setting and well-maintained grounds appeal particularly to couples and families seeking a relaxing retreat with event capabilities like weddings and functions.

Conveniently located about 3 km from El Cristo Golf & Country Club and the cultural attractions around Zócalo de Atlixco, Hacienda Santo Cristo provides access to local museums, parks, and notable nearby sights such as Villa Iluminada and Valle de Catrinas. The hotel is under an hour’s drive from Puebla International Airport and roughly two hours from Mexico City International Airport, making it accessible for regional travelers despite a somewhat remote feel.

Guest feedback reflects appreciation for the unique character of the rooms and the quality of the grounds, though some note variable room comfort and the need for improvements in pool heating and in-room amenities. The blend of historic ambiance with modern conveniences makes it a distinct option for those seeking a serene escape in the Puebla area, with ample opportunities for relaxation and exploration.

We were lucky enough to stop by for breakfast after a recommendation, the place is ashtoning and unexpected... anyhow, food was good and the service is above standard, we had Arturo and he was super polite and knowledgeable about all their menu. I would recommend to try their local beer, it was ice !!! at 09.00 and it was so so so refreshing!!!! ...

This amazing retreat has everything you could want in a romantic getaway. The bungalows, the best choice IMHO, have an enormous concrete tub in their secluded backyard. With a private patio area, it's small but amazingly intimate. The rooms are ultra modern, every amenity one could ask for including dual showers. It's well stocked with drinks and snack, add room service and one wouldn't need to leave at all. Which is good because it's a little far from the city centre and there's really nothing in the immediate area. Beautifully decorated common pool with plenty of loungers and chairs. I look forward to any opportunity to return.

We were there for several days for our daughter's wedding, and we had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful site, with a variety of amenities, including a fabulous restaurant. All the staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating. Don't count on staff knowing English, but they're patient with non-Spanish speakers. A smattering of conversational Spanish, bolstered by Google translate, works quite well. Uber is a good option for transportation (plus there's a mall and a bank with an ATM, for acquiring pesos) in easy walking distance. Be sure to verify the address with your Uber driver. We had issues a couple of times because GPS got a little off kilter when requesting a ride. Also, the hotel and restaurant etc. accepts credit cards, but not all drivers and businesses do. Make sure beforehand, and avoid an awkward situation. Unlike a lot of hotels, each guest room is unique and varies greatly in terms of size and features. We loved our room (#3), but others were not as comfortable IMO. (Special shout out to Jorge, a waiter at the restaurant who speaks impeccable English and was a great asset to us throughout our stay.)

We did not stay for night but had a lovely walk in the garden! So pretty! Loved this place for peaceful vibe. Had a Feeling that all details were created with love! Beautiful place to observe and there’s also a restaurant on the territory. I would recommend this quiet place for a beautiful day with your family! So relaxing and romantic too!

5 star service and grounds. The food is incredible, and the staff doesn’t allow you to lift a finger. Highly recommend staying here if you’re passing through :) one of the most unique hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The original stones are from the 1600’s and the grounds are very peaceful and relaxing. Perfect hotel get away. The only downfall is the location isn’t exactly prime, but if you get creative there are things to do. There’s also a pretty natural spring 35 minutes outside of the town

What a fantastic hotel! Two parcels comprise this intimate spa resort: The original historic hacienda, restaurant, pool, and wedding lawn, as well as a newer construction housing guest rooms, spa, and a second restaurant & pool opened in Summer 2024--connected by a walk and bridge lined with bamboo trees. Accommodations are on both sides of the property with the original hacienda rooms darker and stone-walled, and the new rooms expansive and balconied. Our room in the new section had two queen beds and measured over 600 square feet. The double basin bathroom had a rain shower that was life changing; possibly the best hotel rain shower I have enjoyed anywhere. Bedding is great, and the room had a large balcony attached, overlooking the labyrinth. We preferred the original restaurant, with its enormous arches and large murals. Cuisine is modern Mexican there, where as the new wing's dining room is more pan-continental. Service throughout property was attentive and personable. Breakfast service was a bit slow but not objectionably so. Quibbles? The pools and hot tub need to be warmer. No conditioner in the shower was available. And a hotel of this caliber should have real hangers--not the ball and slot variety. But, what a value for quality received...a hotel of this heft would be $500 in Napa, and here rooms start at $70. Be sure to visit the nearby Pueblo Magico of Atlixco, which is so cute and colorful.
